Since 1921, Wahl Refractories, Inc. has grown to be recognized as an innovative leader in the manufacturing of refractory specialties and precast shapes. Using extensive research and development facilities they developed the first wire-reinforced castable, able to resist both thermal shock and extreme temperatures. They also developed and patented SIFCA®, a revolutionary process for producing precast shapes with up to 16 volume percent of stainless steel fibers. SIFCA® is an engineered material which replaces cast iron and steel parts that are oxidizing due to temperature.

Materials produced at the Fremont, Ohio, plant are sold to the aluminum, steel, copper, incineration, hydrocarbon processing, mineral processing, foundry and chemical industries throughout the world. Licensees for SIFCA® in Italy, Greece, United Kingdom, Spain, Brazil, France, Hungary, Canada, Netherlands, Japan, Australia and South Africa have increased international growth.

During 1996 Wahl Refractories was proud to be awarded one of the highest quality certifications obtainable worldwide, with the ISO 9001 Certification. This Quality Assurance Certificate of Approval was issued by the Ceramic Industry Certification Scheme Ltd, Stroke-on-Trent, England.
